It said, “Each program is meant to help marginalized communities grow in all ways, giving them the support and help they need to get out of poverty.”
The campaign was announced to the media on Thursday at the Bay Leaf Hotel in Intramuros, Manila. Caritas Philippines president Bishop Colin Bagaforo, executive secretary of Caritas Philippines Fr. Antonio Labiao, Jr., and head of the Expanded Alay Kapwa Fund Campaign Fr. Carmelo Caluag were all there.
The official in charge of the program promised that the funds they get will go to the right people.
“We promise that your PHP500 will go to programs that help people in need,” he told her.
The event’s organizers also said that the campaign is a chance to bring together people who have material means and people who don’t.
“No one person can fix all of the world’s problems, but each of us can do something to help. “Let us work together to make Alay Kapwa the cause of every Filipino for every Filipino,” the statement said. (via PNA)
