DSG | Masses for Ople are offered by CBCP-ECMI | MANILA – The Episcopal Commission on Pastoral Care of Migrants and Itinerant People (ECMI) of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) will hold Masses for the late Secretary of the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), Susan Ople.
Bishop Ruperto Santos, vice chairman of CBCP-ECMI, says that Masses will be held for the government worker who died and for her family, who are saddened by her death.
“We at CBCP-ECMI pray for her eternal rest and offer Holy Masses. “She is now with God in Heaven, where she can rest in peace,” he said in a statement.
“In this time of sadness and loss, we stand with our OFWs (Filipino workers abroad) and her family. The Catholic bishop also said, “Our prayers and Holy Masses.”
Santos said that they were sad about Ople’s death, but they thought that her memory would continue to help the welfare of OFWs.
“She loves them with all her heart. She has given her whole life to our country. She does a good job of serving, making sacrifices for the best of our country and the most happiness of our people. The bishop of Antipolo said, “We lost a hero.”
“It’s sad news and a very sad event, especially for our overseas Filipino workers… Still, her memory and that of her father, Blas, will live on,” Santos said.
Ople died on Tuesday. He was 61 years old.(via PNA)
